I'm working on my friend's Harley, he got this 2014 sportster fourty eight and wants to change the tank from a hard candy one to the vivid black tank.

The tank is on the way, but the gas cap wouldn't fit on this tank.

Can anyone tell me how to get the right gas cap for this new tank, bcs I tried to order but can't find anything about this

I'm for sure the 48 got a lot of aftermarket options for you, although they may use a different thread so be wary. Check the thread type on the vivid black tank and compare it to the stock one. It really depends on the year and model and I'm not familiar with the your 2014.

You'll need to make sure the new tank uses the same cap type, it sounds like it might be a different style or size, have you checked the part number or asked the seller?

Another thing to watch out for is if the gas cap needs to be vented. If you don't get a vented cap and it needs to be you will end up with fuel delivery issues and the bike stalling out.

Ran into the same gas cap issue a few years back. The key is checking if the new vivid black tank has a different thread type. I ended up grabbing a cap from Drag Specialties that fit perfectly. Just had to make sure it's listed for '14 Sportsters with OEM-style tanks
