Thinking about trying Fox Float X2 shocks on my 2021 Forty Eight. They seem promising for smoother rides but are they affordable enough to justify the switch?
Yes that's a hefty tag but the good reviews are tempting. Comfort and performance certainly outweigh the dent in my wallet lolI just saw its price range, it goes up to a 1000 bucks. Pretty good review and feedback line though. So now it falls under whether how well you could afford it.
I mostly do weekend rides and short commutes, but lately, uneven roads have become more common and the stock setup isn't cutting it anymore. I'm not chasing track-level performance, but I do want something that smooths out bumps without compromising control in corners. The price is steep, no doubt, but if the ride quality holds up over time, I'll consider it money well spent. Have you run the Float X2 yourself or compared it to something like the Ohlins HD 36? I'm planning to order by early September so I can get it installed before fall riding kicks in.Whether they're worth it really depends on how much you value that performance. For weekend rides or aggressive cornering, the upgrade can feel transformative, but they are a premium price, so if you're mainly cruising, you might not feel the difference enough to justify the cost.
