Hey crew! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the riding season. Wish I could say I am but life has been keeping me busy and my Sportster has been parked in the garage waiting for me to get it out. Soon enough...
I used to be on a Buell forum as I started out on a Buell Blast. Super fun and unique bike. I miss it, was a fun ride. I came across an email about this forum and decided to check it out. Anyway, I stepped up to my Sportster and have been riding it for quite some time. Love the bike. I always get compliments on it from other Harley riders (big twin and bagger riders included) as well as import and other riders. It was customized by the previous owner and a little more by myself.
My ride is a 2003 Sportster (100th Anniversary Edition) and some mods include, 1200 big bore conversion, rear end lowered, aftermarket licence plate and turn signals, black powder coated primary and belt cover, 7" headlight and front fairing, T-Bar drag bars, powder coated wheels, Arlen Ness Big Sucker II intake, forward controls, wrapped drag pipes and probably a few others that I'm missing.
The bike is excellent for city riding. Light and nimble to throw into corners and more than enough power to get you where you want to go. I've done some highway riding on it and it handles it with no problems, other than not giving much wind protection. But, that's not why we ride these bikes.
Since mine is older it has a lot less electronics on it than the newer bikes and it it pretty easy to work on. I never take my bike in for servicing, I do it all myself. The biggest job I did on it was replacing the rocker box gaskets and pulling apart my carb and cleaning it. I ended up fixing a leaking intake problem at the same time and the bike has been running a lot better since then.
I've attached a few pictures that are a bit older. I've made some minor changes since these but it still looks pretty much the same.
