looking for a sportster project

I've set my sights on a sportster for my next project, and I'm thinking about the 1100 or the 1200, so I have a few questions. How much would a used one cost, you know, one that needs work and if there are some special things I need to keep in mind and if this is something I should even consider or should I stick with cars?

I think it costs around $3k depending on the condition and mileage? Usually if it has issues with the carb it's much lower. But there are aftermarket parts that are affordable anyway if that is the case.

for 3k you can find a running one and you'll have some work, but it won't be too terrible. If you really want to work on it, aim for 1k, it'll probably a heap of garbage, but it's gonna be a project you'll remember for th rest of your life

Hey, sorry for jumping in a bit late! Not sure if you've already found one, but I think it's a great idea to look for a Sportster project. Yeah, typically, you can find a rough 1100 or 1200 in the $1,500–$3,000 range, depending on their condition. Just keep an eye out for things like oil leaks, cracked cases on the older models, and those odd wiring issues with the 1200s
