Got a 2020 48 Sportster with a Stage 3 kit and a 2-in-1 Bassani Road Rage exhaust, and I absolutely love it, but as time flies, ive been seriously thinking about switching to the lighter Nightster 975, especially with the performance of the Rev Max engine and ofc the weight. I rode one last summer and it felt like a missile. Has anyone here traded an air-cooled XL for a Nightster or Sportster S? Were you satisfied with the change or am I going crazy for considering it?

Haven't been in this kind of situation, but here's my opinion. The 80-90 lbs weight difference is noticeable, even though it doesn't seem like much. I'm guessing your posrtster is in triple digit hp, but it's still generally a cruiser. You could make some upgrades to make it more nimble, but the weight will be there, so I can understand why you're considering it. Should you do it or not depends on you and your preeference

One concern might be losing that raw, mechanical feel of the air-cooled XL, you know, the character that makes it feel alive. Did the Nightster still give you that visceral connection when you rode it?

Not crazy at all. I know some are making the switch for that lighter feel and tech boost! Did you notice any big difference in comfort or handling when you test rode the Nightster? And are you thinking full trade or keeping both?
