My 883 won't start

I am getting this weird issue on my Sportster 883. The solenoid clicks but no gear action, it just clatters. and it starts then dies down, even when I replaced the drive.

If this is the case, should I replace the solenoid too? Not sure anymore if there's anything else I need to look into? please help!

probably weak solenoid or bad battery connection. check your grounds first, if all good then solenoid's probably toast.

The solenoid might be faulty especially if it's clicking but not engaging, you can check the wiring connections and the starter relay

It sounds like you're dealing with a typical weak battery or a loose connection. Even if you hear clicking or clattering, if the battery is low or a cable is loose, it just won't engage properly. Make sure to double-check your grounds and terminals. If everything there looks good, go ahead and test the solenoid and relay next,they can have their own issues as well. Just let us know what you discover

It sounds like a starter motor or solenoid issue. First, make sure your connections and battery are sound. The solenoid probably needs to be replaced if it clicks but does not engage. The starter motor may be the issue if it engages but the starter won't turn. I would test both or have a mechanic look it over. I hope you quickly get it up and running

Sorry for jumping in late, solid advice all around, reminds me of an old ATV I picked up years back. Wouldn't start, just clicking away. Turned out to be a loose ground buried under some mud-caked plastic. Cleaned it up, snugged it down, and she fired right up. It's always those simple things first before chasing parts.
